Why Public Speaking Skills Are Important Even If You Are Not A Public Speaker

The last couple weeks, I have posted about public speaking. Several readers have asked why I am talking about this, when most of my readers (they assume) are not public speakers.

That’s a great question!

I probably should have led my short series on public speaking with an explanation as to why that is important information to learn – even if you are not a public speaker.

So…here goes:

Public speaking is not just something you might have to do for work or for people in positions of leadership. Learning to talk to others in public forums is an essential life skill that everyone should master.

Learning to speak publicly can not only benefit your career in many ways, but it also has tremendous advantages for your personal growth and development. Here are just a few of the many reasons why it will greatly benefit you if you start improving your public speaking skills today.

1. You Will Improve Your Confidence

When you learn to speak publicly, you can tremendously increase your self-confidence. Mastering public speaking skills can help you feel more prepared and able to share your thoughts and ideas with others, no matter the venue or size of the crowd. This greatly boosts self-confidence.
